Opening address:

The Hon Mark Dreyfus QC, MP, Federal Cabinet Secretary and Parliamentary Secretary for Climate Change and Energy Efficiency

Attention is focussed on looking for variable, alternative, renewable energy technologies but locally we seem to have overlooked a key technology. Direct use geothermal energy has over 3 million examples worldwide, is growing rapidly elsewhere, is well established technically, has reasonable costs that are reducing with time, and is well–suited to Victorian conditions.

Aim: This workshop will provide an introduction of all aspects of the implementation of direct geothermal energy for heating and cooling of buildings and other possible industrial applications. Topics covered will include the technology, assessment of costs and the regulatory environment.
A comprehensive industry display will be included.

Who should attend: The workshop is an introductory workshop aimed at interested professionals including architects, building inspectors, building contractors, civil and environmental engineers, planners, environmental policy makers (local and state government), developers, building lawyers and indeed anyone associated with the building or sustainable development.

The workshop is free, but please register here
