About MEI
The Melbourne Energy Institute is an access point for industry, government and community groups seeking to work with leading researchers on innovative solutions in the following areas: new energy resources; developing new ways to harness renewable energy; more efficient ways to use energy; securing energy waste and framing optimal laws and regulation to achieve energy outcomes.
Study
The University of Melbourne offers interdisciplinary energy graduate programs at Masters and PhD level. These include a the Masters of Energy Systems and Australian-German College of Climate and Energy Transitions.
Research
The Melbourne Energy Institute’s research portfolio covers three main areas. Energy production, energy distribution and consumption, and economics and policy.
Research Centres
The University of Melbourne hosts three new research centres that address future energy challenges. Launched in 2012 these include Peter Cook Centre for Carbon Capture and Storage, the Australian Geophysical Observing System and the Centre for Market Design.
