AEMO Quarterly Energy Dynamics report Q1 2021

The Melbourne Energy Institute is pleased to again host Dr Jonathan Myrtle from the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) as he presents findings from AEMO's latest Quarterly Energy Dynamics report on Wednesday 5 May 2021.

The latest report covers market dynamics, trends and outcomes during Q1 2021 (1 January to 31 March 2021). The report has been published and can be accessed on the AEMO website.

At this seminar, Dr Myrtle will discuss key findings of the Q1 2021 report including:

• mild weather cuts energy demand;
• wholesale electricity prices continue to fall with regional spot electricity prices reduced by 21-68% compared to Q1 2020;
• gas prices and exports driven by northern winter.
