The Melbourne Energy Institute is pleased to host the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) as they present the findings of their latest Quarterly Energy Dynamics report.

The latest report covers market dynamics, trends and outcomes during Q4 2020 (1 October to 31 December). The report has been published and can be accessed on the AEMO website.

At this seminar, Dr Myrtle will discuss key findings of the Q4 2020 report including:

  • electricity demand fell to a new low in Q4 due to mild Q4 weather and continued strong uptake of PV leading to falling operational demand across the NEM;
  • mixed results for wholesale electricity prices;
  • quarterly gas prices increased in all east coast gas markets, reversing the downward trend which has occurred since the beginning of 2019.
