MEI Symposium 21 is a full day conference seminar showcasing the University of Melbourne’s multi-disciplinary energy research across the Melbourne Energy Institute’s four technical programs.

MEI Symposium 21 will feature keynote speakers, graduate students and research staff presenting their research within MEI’s four program areas: Energy Systems; Power Generation and Transport; Hydrogen and Clean Fuels; and Energy Materials. The Symposium will be a hybrid event with both on-campus and online attendance.

We are honoured to have Anna Collyer, Chair of the Australian Energy Market Commission, as the opening keynote, as well as topical seminars that include the following:

  • High efficiency perovskite/silicon tandems for electricity and hydrogen: Professor Kylie Catchpole, Professor in the School  of Engineering , Australian National University
  • Towards the hydrogen-ammonia economy: Professor Doug Macfarlane, School of Chemistry, Monash University
  • Texas power grid under extreme weather - February 2021: Dr Ross Baldick, Professor Emeritus, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, The University of Texas at Austin
  • Wind power - five minutes into the future and beyond: Dr Claire Vincent, Senior Lecturer, School of Geography, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, The University of Melbourne
