ABOUT

The Melbourne Energy Institute was pleased to host Dr Shaun Hooper, Manager – Market Insights at the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), as he presented findings from AEMO’s Q4 2022 Quarterly Energy Dynamics (QED) report, covering dynamics, trends and outcomes in Australia’s electricity and gas markets. Discussion was moderated by Professor Pierluigi Mancarella, Program Leader for Energy Systems at the Melbourne Energy Institute.

The latest QED, which covers the period 1 October to 31 December 2022, tracks the changes in prices in the National Electricity Market (NEM) and east coast gas markets and their drivers, swings in generation fuel supply mix, new NEM instantaneous renewable percentage and minimum demand records, lower gas demand and production and drivers for Western Australia’s increased Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM)’s Balancing Price.

The seminar was presented online.

Date:  Thursday, 23 February 2023
Time: 3:00pm - 4:00pm
Venue: Online via Zoom
