AEMO Q4 Quarterly Dynamics Seminar

Access the slides from the Australian Energy Market Operator's (AEMO) presentation of their latest Quarterly Dynamics report.

On 21st February, AEMO presented the findings of their latest Quarterly Energy Dynamics report to a full house at the University of Melbourne.

The report analysed energy market dynamics, highlighting trends and outcomes experienced by the NEM and gas markets during the fourth quarter of 2018 (1 October to 31 December).

Key findings of the latest report included: sustained high prices in the wholesale electricity and gas markets; a steady fall in output from gas-powered generation; and a 66% increase of large-scale variable renewable energy.

AEMO’s Farhad Billimoria, Senior Markets Analyst, and Dr Jonathan Myrtle, Senior Energy Market Analyst, gave the presentation to a diverse crowd from industry, government and academia.

Every quarter AEMO extracts key trends based on observable data and provides the market with an independent and unbiased analysis of the energy market.

This was the third Quarterly Dynamics presentation MEI hosted with AEMO, with increased popularity being evident in the need to upscale the venue to accommodate the number of registered attendees.
