Short Course: Advances in Hosting Capacity
More Information
About the short course
This short course on Advances in Hosting Capacity offers a thorough and international overview of the fundamental, advanced, and practical aspects of assessing the ability of existing electricity distribution infrastructure (the poles and wires) to accommodate distributed energy resources, such as rooftop solar PV and electric vehicles.
Globally, the adoption of distributed energy resources (DER) like rooftop solar panels and electric vehicles is on the rise. However, distribution companies, responsible for managing the poles and wires, face a significant challenge - the existing infrastructure was never designed to support the widespread integration of these new technologies.
This 3-day short course will be delivered by the Power and Energy Systems Group and the Melbourne Energy Institute at the University of Melbourne, in collaboration with the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP, Brazil), Energy Research and Analytics (ERA, Brazil), Center for Energy Transition (CENTRA) at Adolfo Ibáñez University (Chile), the Electric Power Energy Institute (EPRI, USA), and VoltMind (Australia). It covers fundamental, practical, and advanced aspects of assessing the ability of existing electricity distribution infrastructure to accommodate distributed energy resources.
