Phase 2 of the Net Zero Australia Project (NZAu) has released its first Topical Report, Updated Net Zero Pathways for Australia.
The Report was launched at a public seminar on 24 September 2025, where members of the NZAu Project team discussed:
- the roles of renewables, energy storage, natural gas firming, carbon capture and storage and other, complementary technologies;
- the implications of technology build rates and other constraints on when we might achieve net zero;
- where we may need new electricity and gas transmission; and
- the estimated costs of net zero emissions, overall and disaggregated by residential, commercial and industrial energy users.
The following Report and supporting documents were released by the NZAu team:
- Topical Report #1, Updated Net Zero Pathways for Australia
- The Methods, Assumptions, Scenarios and Sensitivities (MASS) report, providing a complete statement of this Topical Report’s input assumptions and methods; and
- Datasheets, which contain all the data shown in the Topical Report’s graphs.
These documents and the seminar recording are available to download on the NZAu website.
