About

There is a revolution taking place in the global energy sector. The extraordinary uptake of solar and wind power, energy storage and new renewable fuels means the traditional power grid is about to be turned on its head.

The rapid pace of change means there are questions being raised. How will our current system adapt to support these new technologies? What does a reliable, clean, affordable future energy system look like?

Be part of this revolution and help shape the answers. Join the University of Melbourne and founding partner Powershop for two dynamic days at ‘Energy Hack 2018’.

Unlock ideas, educate influencers and stimulate entrepreneurship in the energy industry worldwide. Get access to data, experiment with new forecasting and machine learning methods, test your ideas and collaborate with talented mentors. Learn about consumers’ motivations, discover emerging technologies, tap into Melbourne’s entrepreneurial fire power and shake up your thinking, all while growing your network.

This two-day hackathon will bring experts in industry and policy together with researchers and students from diverse disciplines. From the Melbourne Energy Institute and Powershop, as well as our partners AEMO, Arup, Siemens, Citipower Powercor, City of Melbourne, and the Victorian State Government.
