On Tuesday 3 August, MEI was pleased to again host Dr Jonathan Myrtle, Team Leader – Market Insights at AEMO, for the Q2 Quarterly Energy Dynamics (QED) webinar.
During this webinar, Dr Myrtle discussed key findings from the Q2 QED report, which covers the period from 01 April to 30 June 2021. The detailed report can be accessed on the AEMO website.
Dr Myrtle described Q2 as an eventful period in Australia's electricity and gas markets. Key highlights included the dramatic resurgence in price volatility, sustained higher wholesale electricity and gas prices, and the electricity market’s reaction to major incidents at Callide and Yallourn power stations.
