On Friday 22 November 2024, the Melbourne Energy Institute hosted our annual Symposium, showcasing the multi-disciplinary energy research taking place across the University of Melbourne and beyond.
About
MEI Symposium 24 explored how our influential research is solving energy challenges. Each year, our Symposium features prominent international and local keynote speakers, talented graduate students, and academic staff presenting their research within MEI’s four program areas: Energy Systems, Power Generation and Transport, Heavy Industry and Resources, and Energy Materials.
Speakers
We were excited to host the Climateworks Centre CEO as our opening plenary speaker, alongside presenters from across the University of Melbourne and partnering organisations who are contributing to dynamic research furthering the energy transition.

MEl Poster and Presentation Competition
As part of MEI Symposium 24, post-doctoral research fellows and post-graduate research students competed in presenting their solutions, breakthroughs and visions for solving the world’s energy challenges in four categories, aligned to the MEI Research Programs, with $8,000 in prizes up for grabs.
